'आमने-सामने' में इस बार यश मालवीय
सफ़र के अनियमित श्रृंखला आमने-सामने में इस दफ़ा यश मालवीय अपने कुछ गीत सुनाएंगे और फिर प्रख्यात कवयित्री अनामिका के सानिध्य में श्रोता उनसे सीधी बातचीत करेंगे.सफ़र द्वारा पिछले साल आरंभ किया गया यह कार्यक्रम सचमूच नायाब है, इसलिए कि इसके तहत कोई भी रचनाकार न केवल समय निकाल कर फूर्सत से अपनी पसंदीदा रचनाएं सुनाते हैं बल्कि लोगों को उनसे उनकी रचनाओं के साथ-साथ उनके रचना कर्म समेत जीवन के विभिन्न पहलुओं पर भी बातचीत करने का मौक़ा होता है. कोशिश यह है कि इसके ज़रिए लोग उनकी रचनाओं के मार्फ़त उन्हें जानें ही, पर उससे भी आगे बढकर उनके व्यक्तित्व और व्यवहार को भी जानें. सफ़र को यह ख़ुशी है कि इस श्रृंखला की शुरुआत समकालीन पसंदीदा रचनाकार और हंस के संपादक राजेंद्र यादव जी द्वारा लघुकथाओं और उनकी कुछ चुनी हुई कविताओं के पाठ के साथ हुआ था और साथ में थीं अर्चना वर्मा. वज़ीराबाद की संकरी गलियों से गुज़र कर राजेंद्रजी, अर्चना जी और उनको जानने-सुनने के इच्छूक चालीस-पैंतालीस लोग सफ़र के दफ्तर में इकट्ठा हुए थे. उसी सफलता से प्रेरित हो कर सफर ने इस बार अपने ज़माने के पसंदीदा नवगीत लेखक तथा लोकप्रिय कवि श्री यश मालवीयजी को आमंत्रित किया है. यश मालवीय ने उदयप्रकाश के उपन्यास पर आधारित फिल्म 'मोहनदास' के लिए बड़े सुंदर गीत लिखे हैं. मेरे खयाल से अपने जमाने में शायद ही कोई कवि या गीतकार होंगे जो अकादमियों या सभागारों से बाहर जाकर कविता पाठ करते होंगे, यश भाई उस लिहाज़ से बहुत बड़े अपवाद हैं. इलाहाबाद में लगने वाला माघ मेला का पंडाल हो, या दिल्ली में अंबेडकर जयंती पर सामुदायिक पार्क में खुले आसमान के नीचे होने वाले कार्यक्रम: उनके गीत लोगों को थम कर सुनने को मजबूर करती रही हैं.
उम्मीद है दिल्ली में रहने वाले साहित्यप्रेमी और सृजनशील लोग इस मौक़े का लाभ ज़रूर उठाएंगे.
2ND MEDIA WORKSHOP

Media is every body’s cup of tea today and at the same time it has become a hot cake which attracts a sizable number of youth as a glamorous carrier. This is why every second day a new media institute/course is coming into being. These media institutes are promising a sure and lucrative journalistic career and charging heavy fees from students. On the other hand universities and colleges have started teaching media in the name of employment oriented course. The private media institutes aim to prepare an army of media walkers and managers while the govt. institutions are teaching media to make ideals. Those who study in colleges/universities may be acquainted with theory but lack practical skills, especially the use of new technology; whereas students coming from private institutions are trained to become pawns of market and the corporate world only.
The question of social commitment remains far behind in both the situations. While the fact is that when media loses social concern and neglects the issue of social development and transformation, it becomes meaningless. And this kind of ‘media’ can be management, can be a lucrative profession or anything else but not media. Therefore, This is the high time to look at the media scenario, and include all those socially relevant issues which will help the students and media-personals in developing a social approach, so that they could think and work towards a better and just society.
It is not always necessary to start with a big capital and heavy paraphernalia in terms of machinery. In fact, many a times it forbids genuine initiatives and creates havoc in the process of learning. Now, several examples have been set all over the world, where a meager technological assistance has boosted the proliferation process of alternative media. The pertinent thing is how open your eyes are, how you see your everyday life and what is your understanding of the space and time, you are a part of.
The media programme of SAFAR constantly searching and exploring opportunities to establish an alternative media, a media which will go beyond the academic barriers and market preconditions. It also intends to do experimental media activities of different kinds, especially low cost media with not only prevalent forms and technologies but also with emerging ones.
In order to honor its commitment towards real media, SAFAR in association with SARAi-CSDS is organizing a three day Media Workshop for students, media enthusiasts, development professionals and grassroot activists; which is the second in the series. This will include bi-lingual sessions on print, radio, television, and web journalism by experts like Khadeeja Arif (correspondent , BBC Radio), Piya Kochhar (Radio Journalist & Media Entrepreneur), Prof. Abhay Kumar Dubey (CSDS), Dilip Mandal (economicstimes.com), Rahul Pandita (Senior Corrspondent, Open), Rakesh Kumar Singh (Digi-activist & media researcher), Shailesh Bharatwasi (hindyugm.com) and Vineet Kumar (TV Critic).
Since SAFAR is a self funded initiative, we are charging a meager amount of Rs. 600/- from students, Rs. 900 from development professionals and Rs. 1200 from corporate professinals , which will include registration & course fee, lunch, tea and stationeries.
Outstation participants should manage their stay at their own. Participants would be given certificates.

मैं
जननी इस संसार की
आज तलाश में
अपनी ही पहचान की
अपने ही पेट से
चार कंधो के इन्तजार तक !!!
पहचान मिली भी
तो आश्रित रहने की
बचपन में पिता पर
जवानी में पति पर
और बुढ़ापे में बेटे पर
पूरी उम्र आश्रित
अपनी ही पैदा की गई जात पर
आदमी पर!!!
कभी पहचान जताने के लिए,
गलियो से गुजरते हुए
निकालनी पड़ी मुझे
सुअर की आवाज,
तो कभी निकलना पड़ा
खुली रखे अपनी छाती,
तो कभी पहचान बता डायन
मनोरंजन किया गया सबका
घुमा कर नंगा, मुझे पूरा गाँव
इन सब का स्वार्थ
और झूटा सम्मान भी
बनाये रखना था मुझे ही,
तो कभी कोख से नीकालकर
तो कभी कोख में ही दी गई मेरी बली,
कभी रखा गया मुझे परदे में,
कभी किया बाल विवाह,
कभी बनी में सती,
कभी करवाया गया जौहर,
तो कभी समाना पड़ा पृथ्वी
और देनी पड़ी अग्नी परीक्षा
उस पुरुषोत्तम राम को
जिसको जरा भी शर्म नहीं आई थी
अहिल्या को पैर से छूटे हुए !!!
और छीना मेरा अस्तित्व
बना मुझे, कभी देवदासी, कभी जोगिनी
और कभी वैश्या,
मिटाने,
इनकी, इनके देवो की और
और इनके पुजारियो की
वासना की भूख !!!
और अब ये चरित्रहीन बोलने लगे की
मैं ही गड़ती हूँ परिभाषा
चरित्रहीनता की,
और देते हैं,
सभ्यता और सलीके की दुहाई
कि सांस भी खुलकर
नहीं लेनी मुझे !!!
और आज
सर उठाने, चलने और
गले से आवाज नकालने
तक के लिए,
जूझती मैं,
जूझती अपने प्रतिशत के लिए |
कभी
ठगी सी खड़ी
बीच, पुरुषों की जमात के
देखती
इस झूठे लोकतंत्र में
इस झूठी संसद में
होने को कोई फेंसला मेरे पक्ष में,
होने को कोई अनहोनी !!!

बाबा साहब के सम्मान में चार दिवसीय अभिव्यक्ति 11 अप्रैल से
बाबा साहब डॉक्टर भीमराव अंबेडकर की 118वीं जयंती के अवसर पर सफ़र इस साल चार दिवसीय सांस्कृतिक उत्सव अभिव्यक्ति का आयोजन करने जा रहा है
. 11 से 14 अप्रैल के बीच होने वाले इस अभिव्यक्ति की शुरुआत यमुना पार स्थित गांवड़ी गांव में बाल-अधिकारों तथा जाति व जेंडर पर गोष्ठियों व रचनात्मक कार्यशालाओं से होगी. शाम को स्थानीय बच्चों द्वारा नृत्य-गीतों की प्रस्तुतियां भी होंगी. अगले दिन, 12 अप्रैल को जहांगीरपुरी में इसी तरह के कार्यक्रम होंगे. 13 अप्रैल को तिमारपुर स्थित दिल्ली ऐडमिनिस्ट्रेशन कॉलोनी में स्कूली बच्चों के लिए कुछ कार्यशालाएं आयोजित की जाएंगी और साथ ही कबड्डी प्रतियोगिता का आयोजन भी किया जाएगा.
इस चार दिवसीय सास्कृतिक समारोह का समापन दिल्ली विश्वविद्यालय में होगा. 14 अप्रैल को 11 बजे दिल्ली विश्वविद्यालय के टैगोर हॉल में समकालीन भारत में जाति का सवाल विषय पर एक परिचर्चा होगी, सीएसडीएस के फ़ेलॉ डॉ. हिलाल अहमद, वरीष्ठ पत्रकार श्री दिलीप मंडल तथा एडवोकेट एवं मानवाधिकार कार्यकर्ता सुश्री चन्द्रा निगम इस परिचर्चा में भाग लेंगे. दोपहर बाद का सत्र सांस्कृतिक कार्यक्रमों का होगा, जिसमें जाने-माने समकालीन गायक रवि नागर के गायन के अलावा लयकार, लोकस्वर तथा अन्य जनवादी सांस्कृतिक समूहों की प्रस्तुतियां भी होंगी. इस समारोह का समापन बच्चों के बीच पुरस्कार वितरण के साथ होगा.

SAFAR Film Series invites you the screenings of INDIA UNTOUCHED 0n 25-26 Feb in New Delhi
Social Action for Advocacy and Research (SAFAR) is consistently working for caste and gender sensitization through various awareness programs and advocacy campaigns. While doing so we use various media forms and techniques as campaign tools. Posters, pamphlets, stickers, wall magazines, calendars and films are some of the forms we use and experiment with. We see these media forms not merely as mediums of expression and art forms, but also effective tools to sensitize/mobilize/aware common mass on any particular issue.Keeping this into mind SAFAR has initiated a unique program called SAFAR Film Series last year. The main idea behind this program is to undertake issue based mobile film screenings series. Under this program we periodically organize a series of screenings of any particular film for two-three days at as many places as possible in a city. We ultimately aim to approach and sensitize those who generally do not get chance to acquaintance with the people/culture/tradition/idea/trend which affects the very social fabric of this country and therefore remain confused or mere play a role of mute spectator. The post screening discussion is equally important for us, and therefore we try to make the concerned film maker/director available for a fruitful discussion.
SAFAR is going to organize a series of screenings of INDIA UNTOUCHED under the SAFAR FILM SERIES on 25-26 February at various places in Delhi. Stalin K., the director of the film has kindly consented to be available for the discussion. Details of screening schedule and a brief note about the film and the director are as follows:

"INDIA UNTOUCHED-Stories of a People Apart" is perhaps the most comprehensive look at Untouchability ever undertaken on film. Director Stalin K. spent four years traveling the length
and breadth of the country to expose the continued oppression of 'Dalits,' the 'broken people' who suffer under a 4000 year-old religious system.
The film introduces leading Benares scholars who interpret Hindu scriptures to mean that Dalits 'have no right' to education, and Rajput farmers who proudly proclaim that no Dalit may sit in their presence, and that the police must seek their permission before pursuing cases of atrocities.
The film captures many 'firsts-on-film,' such as Dalits being forced to dismount from their cycles and remove their shoes when in the upper caste part of the village. It exposes the continuation of caste practices and Untouchability in Sikhism, Christianity and Islam, and even amongst the communists in Kerala. Dalits themselves are not let off the hook: within Dalits, sub-castes practice Untouchability on the 'lower' sub-castes, and a Harijan boy refuses to drink water from a Valmiki boy.
The viewer hears that Untouchability is an urban phenomenon as well, inflicted upon a leading medical surgeon and in such hallowed institutions as JNU, where a Brahmin boy builds a partition so as not to look upon his Dalit roommate in the early morning.
A section on how newspaper matrimonial columns are divided according to caste presents urban Indians with an uncomfortable truth: marriage is the leading perpetuator of caste in India.
But the film highlights signs of hope, too: the powerful tradition of Dalit drumming is used to call people to the struggle, and a young Dalit girl holds her head high after pulling water from her village well for the first time in her life.
Spanning eight states and four religions, this film will make it impossible for anyone to deny that Untouchability continues to be practiced in India.

Stalin K. is a human rights activist and award-winning documentary filmmaker. In recent years, he has become known for his pioneering 'participatory media' work with urban and rural communities, in which local people produce their own videos and radio programs as an empowerment tool. He is the Co-Founder of DRISHTI- Media, Arts and Human Rights, Convener of the Community Radio Forum-India, and the India Director of Video Volunteers. He is a renowned public speaker and has lectured or taught at over 20 institutions ranging from the National Institute of Design and the Tata Institute of Social Sciences in India, to New York University and Stanford and Berkeley in the US.
'INDIA UNTOUCHED is Stalin's second film on the issue of caste—his earlier film 'Lesser Humans,' on manual scavenging, won the Silver Conch at the Mumbai International Film Festival and the Excellence Award at Earth Vision Film Festival, Tokyo, and helped to bring international attention to the issue of caste.

The viewer hears that Untouchability is an urban phenomenon as well, inflicted upon a leading medical surgeon and in such hallowed institutions as JNU, where a Brahmin boy builds a partition so as not to look upon his Dalit roommate in the early morning.
A section on how newspaper matrimonial columns are divided according to caste presents urban Indians with an uncomfortable truth: marriage is the leading perpetuator of caste in India.
But the film highlights signs of hope, too: the powerful tradition of Dalit drumming is used to call people to the struggle, and a young Dalit girl holds her head high after pulling water from her village well for the first time in her life.
Spanning eight states and four religions, this film will make it impossible for anyone to deny that Untouchability continues to be practiced in India.

Stalin K. is a human rights activist and award-winning documentary filmmaker. In recent years, he has become known for his pioneering 'participatory media' work with urban and rural communities, in which local people produce their own videos and radio programs as an empowerment tool. He is the Co-Founder of DRISHTI- Media, Arts and Human Rights, Convener of the Community Radio Forum-India, and the India Director of Video Volunteers. He is a renowned public speaker and has lectured or taught at over 20 institutions ranging from the National Institute of Design and the Tata Institute of Social Sciences in India, to New York University and Stanford and Berkeley in the US.
'INDIA UNTOUCHED is Stalin's second film on the issue of caste—his earlier film 'Lesser Humans,' on manual scavenging, won the Silver Conch at the Mumbai International Film Festival and the Excellence Award at Earth Vision Film Festival, Tokyo, and helped to bring international attention to the issue of caste.

6 फ़रवरी को राजेन्द्र यादव द्वारा चुनी हुई लघुकथाओं का पाठ
आगामी 6 फ़रवरी 2009 को राजेन्द्र यादव अपनी चुनी हुई लघुकथा का पाठ करेंगे. अर्चना वर्मा उनकी रचनाओं पर अपनी राय साझा करेंगे. उसके बाद खुली चर्चा होगी. लंबे अर्से के बाद राजेन्द्र यादव अपनी रचनाओं का पाठ करने जा रहे हैं. उम्मीद है यह कार्यक्रम साहित्यप्रेमियों को रूचिकर लगेगा और वे राजेन्द्रजी से उनकी रचनाओं पर बातचीत के लिए ज़रूर आएंगे.
वज़ीराबाद में कार्यक्रम आयोजित करने का एकमात्र उद्देश्य ये है कि साहित्य या संस्कृति पर होने वाले कार्यक्रम स्थापित सांस्कृतिक केंद्रों या विश्वविद्यालयों तक ही सीमित न रहें.

सेंट्रल दिल्ली होकर आने वाले अथितियों के लिए आसान होगा कि वे पहले विश्वविद्यालय मेट्रो स्टेशन आ जाएं और वहां से रिक्शा या ऑटो ले लें. या फिर विश्वविद्यालय मेट्रो स्टेशन से यमुना पार की ओर जाने वाली किसी भी बस से वे नेहरू विहार मोड़ तक आ सकते हैं और वहां से रिक्शा ले सकते हैं या 5-7 मिनट पैदल मार्च कर सकते हैं.
निजी वाहनों से आने वालों के लिए आसान होगा कि वे आउटर रिंग रोड से गोपालपुर गांव की बत्ती पर पहुंच कर सड़क पार कर लें, वज़ीराबाद गांव में दाखिल हो जाएंगे.
